4 Steps to an Autumn Capsule Wardrobe

Since we moved late last year, my wardrobe has been ridiculously disorganised. I wake up every day feeling like I have absolutely nothing to wear.

A while ago I came across Project 333 and the idea has really stuck with me. If you’ve never heard of a capsule wardrobe, it’s basically choosing a very low number of clothes to wear for a season. Check out the link above for more info. You can decide on the number, but I’m sticking with 30 items of clothing (not including underwear, exercise gear and a couple of basic undershirts).
I’m also not including things like hats and jewellery. I wear my wedding ring and my rose gold Fossil watch on a daily basis, but I change up necklaces and earrings occasionally.

I loved the idea of giving myself less options because it’s always harder to choose when you have more to choose from!

We’ve got less than a week until Autumn is here, so here’s my inspiration for an Autumn Capsule Wardrobe.

1.Get some inspiration and decide what you want in your capsule wardrobe. Don’t forget to include something for every occasion, including warm clothes in cold seasons and vice versa (hint: take a look in your closet right now. What are your favourite items to wear? Make sure they’re on the list)

2. Any clothes and shoes that are broken, don’t fit, or that you don’t love need to be thrown or donated (and no, I don’t mean carted around in your boot for weeks. Drop them straight off to a clothing bin)

3. Put all other out of season clothes and accessories that are not going to be part of your capsule wardrobe into tubs, space bags or some other sort of storage

4. Reap the benefits and enjoy stress free mornings wearing clothes that actually make you feel good about yourself!

I can’t wait to start putting outfits together from my capsule wardrobe. You can check out some of them at my Instagram account.
