The gorgeous Druime from Snippets and Spirits has nominated me for a Liebster Award and provided me with ten questions to answer!
For those of you who don’t know what a Liebster Award is, it is an award gifted by fellow bloggers to recognise the effort that you put into your blog. I think we often find that the only people who “understand” how much effort we put into our blogs are our close loved ones, and other bloggers.
Writing a blog is super time consuming. For those of my readers who aren’t bloggers, I want to let you in on a day in the life of a blogger.
- Think of content
- Create that content
- Photograph the content
- Edit the photographs
- Write compelling post to accompany your photographs
- Share on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, StumbleUpon, Tumblr and any other social media platform you can possibly think of
- Add your blog post to a “Link Up Party” with other bloggers, and read and comment on their blog posts also
- Continue sharing over the following week (without spamming your readers)
- Pray that someone will read it (other than your Mum)
And then do all of the things you need to do apart from that. For me that’s working a full time job, keeping a household with two grown men, and two small men on a fortnightly basis and following my own interests.
For me it’s a joy to write my blog. I love it so much, but it’s really nice whenever you get a new follower, a new email subscriber, or a new comment on your blog and you think wow! Someone read that post, and they liked it. Although my blog is self titled, I didn’t create it to be self-serving. I created it in the hopes to inspire others with my organisation tasks and craft projects. I put a lot of effort in, and each time you come and visit me here it makes me so happy.
It’s really nice to be recognised by other bloggers. It has taken me ages to actually post this because of all the difficulties I’ve had with my blog recently. I’m so grateful for my nomination. Now to the juicy part! Q&A time!
1.What is your guilty pleasure?
I must admit, my guilty pleasure is disgustingly horrid food, and disgustingly horrid television. I am a TV and movie buff. You could probably mention about 70% of current TV shows and I can say I’ve watched at least a few episodes of them. I love watching pretty awful TV shows whilst eating chocolate brownies, peanut butter and chocolate ice cream, chinese food, you name it! If it has a large fat content, I’m probably eating it!
2.As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I desperately wanted to be a performer when I was young. I believed I had a wonderful singing voice. I would go out to our yard and use our hills hoist winder handle as a microphone, and create my own songs putting on performances for imaginary audiences! I wonder what the neighbours thought!?
3.What was the first music concert you went to?
I am pretty sure the first music concert I went to was Opeth at the UNSW Roundhouse. Their supporting act was Arch Enemy. If you don’t know who Opeth and Arch Enemy are, they are heavy metal bands. Yep, I was a little metal head in my teenage years, and I still enjoy listening to that style of music (I also listen to classical music – is your mind blown yet?). Arch Enemy have a female lead singer… singer? Well, she actually screams. If I recall correctly, it was absolutely full on but I had the most amazing time.
4.If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
This is a really hard question. I don’t like regret and I don’t like being ungrateful for what I am and what I have. I love being in control of my life and saying, I don’t like this about myself, so instead of being miserable about it, I’m going to change it! That’s just how I am.
I don’t want you to think that I’m superficial, but I really don’t want to change anything about my personality right now. So if I could I would change the fact that my eyes are not symmetrical on my face. Hubby reckons he can’t notice, but when I pluck my eyebrows and I line up my eyebrows with my eyes, it doesn’t line up with my nose. The silly things you notice about yourself, right?!
5.If you could have one super power what would it be and why?
I actually have a super power. You know when you’re listening to a CD and it jumps, or you are watching a DVD and it skips or pauses? I have the amazing cleaning ability to wipe the disc and it normally plays just like normal. Please, stop applauding, I’m just a normal human like you, I just happen to have a super power.
I don’t want to be greedy, but if I could have another one, I’d choose to be able to fly. Something just seems so amazing to me about the idea of being able to fly. Birds seem so serene when they are up high, flying.
6.How do you find peace in your life?
Every day I remind myself that it is my choice to be happy, and it is my choice to see the positive rather than the negative. Doing this helps me to remind myself of all of the things in life I have to be grateful for and how lucky I am. It’s hard NOT to find peace in your life when you remember all of these things.
7.What annoys you?
People eating with their mouth open, or very loudly, and bad table manners. I can’t stand it when people don’t use their cutlery, have their elbows on tables. It literally turns me off my food. Call me old fashioned but I think my grandfather taught me from the age of five to have better table manners than a lot of adults I know. (if you think I’m talking about you, I probably am).
8. Do you have any bad habits?
I think sometimes I can be too honest. I say the things that I’m thinking, and I don’t like to hold back. It makes me feel awful to keep something from people, because my Mum raised me that a lie by omission is still a lie. I like being honest, but sometimes it means I say the wrong thing.
9. What are you scared of?
Hard hitting stuff. I’m not really scared of creepy crawlies or clowns or anything. My fear is all about losing the people that are close to me. I know how precious and short life is, and that’s what really freaks me out.
10.When are you most contented?
I am most contented when I’m with my family, but especially when everyone is playing nicely and just enjoying themselves. I also get a giant feeling of contentment when I have just finished a project I worked really hard on and it turned out the way I wanted it to (or, better!)
I hope you got a little more incite into the Sheridan behind Sheridan Anne. Head over to Snippets and Spirits to get to know Druime and make sure you visit all of my nominees too!
