I’m a book worm who love, love, loves to read and tries to separate myself desperately from the book when its’ movie or television series counterpart is released. In this instance, I did exactly the same thing, and went into that movie theatre looking forward to the movie but not expecting it to be anywhere near as enjoyable as the book was.

Here’s my review on the very first book.┬áPlease, go and read it. I don’t want to repeat myself, and if you want to know what the movie is about, you can definitely go and read that review and come out with the same response.

You may be wondering why I am even bothering to review it? It is so very rare that a movie stays true to the book that I want people, especially people who read Divergent and loved it but don’t want to ruin it by watching a poor imitation in film form, to watch the movie. We all know there is more detail in a novel so of course some things don’t happen exactly the same, and some things we don’t have as deep an insight into, but it is a brilliant movie.

The film is set in a futuristic, dystopian society where the people have to choose from five groups to live in, called factions. Each faction reflects a value that they uphold more than all others, and they were designed to bring peace, ending a devastating war. Abnegation are selfless; Candor are honest; Dauntless are brave; Amity are peaceful; Erudite are intelligent.

Except there is one other type of person in their society. The Divergents, who threaten the faction system with their existence.

The acting is well done and even though the characters are not exactly as I imagined them from the books, they really grew on me throughout the movie.

If you aren’t already aware, Divergent is the first instalment in the series and there are two other books in the series (which doesn’t really tell you how many more movies there will be, considering the way the film industry is these days). Not only do I believe you will be sucked into this world, you won’t want to leave and you will be dying to know what happens in the rest of Beatrice and Four’s adventure.

In celebration of Divergent being available right now on DVD and BluRay, I am going to be sharing a makeup look, and a Divergent outfit over the next two weeks, so stay tuned!

The novel is available in most book stores and the DVD/BluRay is available in most Target, Kmart, Big W, JB Hi-Fi stores. Get your copy today!
