Collect Your Receipts

2014 is the year of organising for me. I am tackling One Area At A Time. This month has been all about the Kitchen
February is all about budget, so I decided that this month I would start collecting my receipts. My theory is: If you don’t know what you are spending you can’t factor these things in your budget, which means you will be setting yourself up to go over budget.

At least once a week I empty my purse and Aaron’s wallet of all of our receipts. I staple receipts into categories like petrol, groceries, leisure, etc. Then I place them into a plastic envelope in the front of our Household Binder.

At the end of the month I go through all of the receipts to make a tally of our spending and trim a little fat. I hope you’ll join me when I explain in a little more depth about why I collect receipts and how it helps me create a budget next month.
